The men & women volunteers are trained to undertake basic technical rescues and have at least one emergency medical technician. The PA State Voluntary Rescue Recognition Program was created to recognize fire companies that have proven their equipment is in working order; their rescuers are healthy and the companies have policies and practices in place to maintain their health; and they have proper training to affect a rescue.
